Eléonore Durocher BERGERON

Over the past ten years, she has explored drawing, graphics, photography, painting and the textile arts to illustrate her vision of the feminine, gender equality, identity, resilience. and belonging. Her work is heavily influenced by her research into the traces of her paternal grandmother's Mi'kmaq origins.

Botany and the feminine have always formed the basis of my artistic approach. In approaching the nude bodies in fine ink, I first explore self-esteem and human vulnerability as well as the importance of the simplicity that should emanate from our presence on earth. I also want to testify to the intimate link between woman, the earth and her natural cycles by reminding us that we belong to the earth rather than the other way around. Through these portraits with undefined contours, I want to underline the importance of a return to the unifying nature of women, renewing their spirit of mutual aid, solidarity and non-judgment. A search for flowers and plants, most often from Quebec, guide the choice of tones explored.
Textile art
I am the daughter of our grandmothers. By deconstructing ancestral techniques of weaving, embroidery and macrame, I try to transpose my own vision of the freedom to be and to do in a desire to shatter the shackles and systems of oppression in which women are always taken.
My approach raises different issues of cultural, territorial, feminine and intersectional identity. My eco-feminist approach aims to highlight the impact of colonization, here and elsewhere, on the contribution of women to the social life and governance of their communities and their nations, particularly with regard to land and natural resources.
By creating with pleasure, softness and lightness, my works in tones and materials from our vast territory, are the fruit of a long reflection in order to reinvent the world of tomorrow in our image. To women and their memory.
